After retirement, he enjoyed driving deliveries for the Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown. He had also worked for 24 years for Allegheny Foundry in Bolivar. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a coal miner by the former Florence Mining Co. a son of the late James and Gladys Laughner Deemer.
